KILLEEN - A Killeen Police Officer that was accused of sexually assaulting a child back in January has now been indicted.

53 year old Kirt Yarbrough was indicted by a Coryell County grand jury on Wednesday. This comes after Yarbrough was arrested in Killeen, and then again in Copperas Cove for two separate incidents regarding the sexual assault of the same 16 year old girl.

According to the arrest affidavit, Yarbrough had brought the teen to a hotel in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Copperas Cove last month. The girl later told a nurse that Yarbrough had picked her up at her home and taken her to a hotel where they engaged in sexual activities.

The alleged victim was a member of the Killeen Police Explorer, a youth outreach program in which Yarbrough participated.
