WACO - Waco Police decided to launch their own Twitter account on Wednesday. The account is on a test basis to see how well it is received by followers.
This new account gives citizens the opportunity to receive information of interest and may be vital in helping police solve crimes. The account will be managed by Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, Waco Police Department's P.I.O.
The vision for the information shared will be to inform local communities of current Police Department events, major traffic problems, missing children/persons, and breaking criminal activity where extra sets of eyes are needed to help police locate suspects. Police also say the lighter side of the law may occasionally find its way to the tweets.
The site will have some limitations as the account will be updated as time permits. Followers should also note, the account will not be constantly monitored and any emergency should still be reported through 911. Also, tips to Law Enforcement should not be sent through this account as the sender could be easily identified.
Waco Police would like to invite everyone to follow their page at "@WacoPolice" Twitter account to be included for updates.
