Man found dead in Temple died from narcotics

by Nate Bishop

TEMPLE - A medical examiner's report says that a man whose body was found in Temple earlier this year died from toxic effects of narcotics.

On May 2, Temple Police were called out to the 600 Block of East Adams after the body of 34-year-old Lonnie Joe Pruitt was found under the overpass.

Police say their initial investigation showed Pruitt fell about 20 feet to his death, near the bridge embankment. Justice of the Peace Engleking ordered an autopsy, and the case remained under active investigation until this time.

On Thursday, Temple police received the final conclusion from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office. They found that Pruitt died from the toxic effects of narcotics and a seizure disorder may have contributed.

Temple Police say this closes the investigation, and the case is ruled as Accidental Death.
